We continue to help Ukrainian companies expand their sales markets.
On 26–27 November, Ksenia Nagorna, Head of the International Activities Department at the Zaporizhzhia Chamber of Commerce and Industry, spoke at an online workshop for food and textile manufacturers on entering the Swedish market. She was joined by fellow trainers Natalia Belyakova, President of the Khmelnytsky Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and Vitaliy Kyrychuk, Vice President of the Volyn Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
A team of certified consultants on EU exports and technical compliance prepared this event after completing training at the Trade Academy Trade Promotion in Stockholm this summer.
An important part of the workshop was the participation of a representative of the Swedish National Trade Council, the organisers of this internship. She reminded that the organisation is state-owned and works with Ukrainian businesses within the Export to Sweden 2.0 programme. The programme helps companies go all the way — from initial consultations to actual meetings with Swedish buyers. Ms Liliya Rshumovich noted:
‘We want to help chambers of commerce and industry, which work closely with companies in the regions, to better understand the market and pass this information on to businesses.’
During the event, participants had the opportunity to receive practical recommendations on entering the Swedish market. Speakers explained how to assess a company’s export readiness, what to look for when preparing a product, and how to properly build communication with distributors and retail chains.
Participants were also presented with factual data on which segments are currently most open to exporters from non-EU countries. In particular, 67.6% of imports of clothing and accessories in Sweden are made by companies from non-EU countries.
