The Zaporizhzhia Chamber of Commerce and Industry is launching a new educational project with the support of the USAID Competitive Economy of Ukraine Programme. The main task is to train workers for Zaporizhzhia enterprises under accelerated programmes. We will help jobseekers to undergo free training and master new professions in demand in the labour market, and help industrial companies to quickly provide their production with trained specialists.
To do this, we join forces with our educational partners – vocational and higher education institutions, the National Qualifications Agency, and Zaporizhzhia’s industrial enterprises.
Volodymyr Shamilov, President of the Zaporizhzhia CCI, explains:
‘Educational services are one of the main areas of our activity. The training centre of the Zaporizhzhia Chamber of Commerce and Industry has been operating for over 20 years, and we have been implementing training courses and programmes for entrepreneurs, trainings and webinars with the support of international programmes.
Recently, we have expanded our capabilities by opening a Qualification Centre, where you can confirm professional skills acquired outside of educational institutions, in particular, at work, during courses and trainings. This is especially important in times of war as it will help to speed up the employment of internally displaced persons and veterans. The SkillBoost project is a logical continuation of this work. We appreciate our cooperation with the USAID Competitive Economy of Ukraine Programme and hope that this joint initiative will be a tangible support for both the participants and the companies that will receive qualified employees.’
The first project activities will include sessions and trainings for educators. By participating in the programme, educational institutions will develop new training programmes in line with the current requirements of enterprises, and the Qualification Centre of the Zaporizhzhia CCI will expand the list of accredited specialities.
The five professions of the project
Following consultations with representatives of education and business, five professions have already been selected for project participants to master:
● electric and gas welder
Turner
● repairman; ● mechanic
Electrician for the repair and maintenance of electrical equipment
● tailor.
More than 120 participants will be able to take part in the training programmes. Some of them will get jobs at Zaporizhzhia enterprises after successful completion of the training.
The training for each group will last an average of 2 months and will include theoretical lectures, on-the-job training and exams at the Qualification Centre of the Zaporizhzhia CCI. The final certification will be an official confirmation of the skills acquired.
‘The project will help to provide enterprises with the necessary personnel, increase business efficiency and competitiveness, develop innovations, and help those in need to retrain and find new jobs. Such activities work to support and restore the region’s economy,’ Zaporizhzhia CCI experts believe and invite Zaporizhzhia educational institutions and enterprises to join the joint work.
Together we will support the labour market and all its participants!
