The 5th International Ecological Forum “Eco Forum – 2021” took place in the Kozak Palace Exhibition Centre. The event brought together environmental experts, business, science, education and all concerned environmentalists.
The organizers were the Zaporizhia City Council and the Zaporizhia Chamber of Commerce and Industry. The event was supported by the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Natural Resources of Ukraine, the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, the Committee of Entrepreneurs on Nature Management and Environmental Protection at the CCI of Ukraine, ZOSPP (R) “Potential”.
For three days, about 100 speakers from Ukraine, as well as Great Britain, Georgia, Estonia, Germany, Hungary and the Czech Republic spoke at 14 main locations. Specialized exhibitions “Eco”, “Energy Saving” worked in the exhibition hall.
About 600 participants attended the forum every day. More than 1,500 viewers joined the online broadcasts.
The main topic of the forum is the implementation of local initiatives in the context of the European Green Course. After all, this topic unites the world, countries and cities today.
The Consul General of Germany in Donetsk (Dnipro office) Tanya Bayer spoke about the European experience:
- Your country’s economy depends on industry and agriculture. Therefore, Ukraine cannot stay away from the Green Agreement. The holding of this environmental forum in eastern Ukraine, where many industrial sites and agricultural lands are concentrated, demonstrates that Ukraine will be actively involved in these processes.
Director of the Foundation. Heinrich Böll, Kyiv-Ukraine Bureau Johannes Foswinkel in his speech focused on significant climate change on the planet: - The topic of climate change is one of the priorities in European politics, especially in Germany. The goal of the green course is not just to replace outdated technology with new ones. The goal of the green course will cover all sectors of the economy. This applies to the whole society, as the usual way of life changes. Therefore, we in the fund are talking about socio-environmental transformations. The green course gives great chances for Ukraine. A forum like this is very important because it provides an opportunity to share experiences.
Thematic sections on energy efficiency and renewable energy worked offline and online for three days; water resources management; protection of atmospheric air; industrial and household waste management.
During the event, the results of the All-Ukrainian student competition of projects in environmental management, the city’s annual competition of creative works in landscape design, the Days of Sustainable Energy were announced.
An exhibition was traditionally held on the ground floor of the exhibition center. Stands of industrial companies, organizations-developers in the field of environmental protection, municipal enterprises of the city, educational institutions were presented.
In particular, the Zaporizhzhya enterprise presented its own products, which developed and established the production of phosphate-free powders. At the exhibition you could taste and buy delicious and useful products from dogwood grown in the Zaporozhye region, other useful organic products.
